Strengthen your immune system!

7 tips for a strong immune system
Our immune system protects us from viruses and bacteria all year round – but in autumn and winter, dry air from heating and temperature fluctuations make us more susceptible to colds. If you want to support your immune system, you should strengthen it. A healthy immune system is fundamental to our overall health.
What is the immune system?
The immune system is a complex and sensitive network distributed throughout the entire body. This includes, for example, organs and specialized blood cells. The immune system serves as protection against the viruses and bacteria that surround us every day. Basically, there are two lines of defense: the innate and the adaptive immune system. As soon as pathogens overcome the body's protective barrier, our immune system is called upon. Especially in damp and cold conditions, blood flow to the nose and throat is impaired, making the immune system more vulnerable. Additionally, more people spend time indoors during these seasons, making them more susceptible to infection. If the immune system is not functioning optimally, you will be ill more often and for longer periods. Three or more infections per year are very likely – therefore, you should strengthen your immune system early on with appropriate measures .
7 tips for a strong immune system:
- Drink at least 1.5 liters of water or unsweetened tea . This is because the dry air from heating systems dries out the mucous membranes in the nose and throat, which weakens the natural barrier against viruses and bacteria.
- Ventilate regularly. This ensures that the virus-laden air in enclosed spaces is replaced with fresh air.
- Use the sauna and take contrast showers. Alternating between cold and warm water stimulates blood circulation.
- Regular exercise in the fresh air gets the circulation going and keeps our mucous membranes moist.
- Make sure you get enough sleep! Because during sleep, large amounts of immune-active substances are released in the body, strengthening our immune system.
- A balanced diet not only strengthens your immune system, but also keeps you healthy in many other ways!
- Strengthen your immune system with essential nutrients like zinc, vitamin A, and vitamin C , including through supplements. Zinc can be obtained from foods such as beef, legumes, and eggs, while vitamin A is found exclusively in animal products like milk, butter, liver, and fish. Vitamin C is found in foods such as oranges, broccoli, and spinach.
Support your immune system with dietary supplements.
It is not always possible to adequately meet vitamin and mineral requirements through daily diet. In such cases , specific dietary supplements , whose ingredients effectively support the immune system, represent a good alternative.
Various dietary supplements containing important nutrients for a strong and healthy immune system are available on the market (e.g. , oxano® cell protection capsules according to Müller-Wohlfahrt ). The ingredients zinc, vitamin A, and vitamin C contribute to the normal function of the immune system. Zinc and vitamin C, as well as the vitamin E also contained in the supplement, are additionally important components for protection against oxidative stress.
