In stillness lies (defensive) strength.

Protective measures against cold viruses
With the switch to winter time comes the annual season of coughs, sneezing, and sniffles , and everyone tries their best to protect themselves from the airborne viruses and bacteria. Well-known and proven protective measures include handwashing, alternating hot and cold showers, sauna visits, and humidifiers. However, it's often forgotten that enjoyment and relaxation are also crucial factors in strengthening the immune system .
Reduce stress – strengthen the immune system
Exertion and stress weaken the immune system to a significant degree, which is why illness often strikes precisely after overcoming such strain. Therefore, it is all the more important to reduce stress and ensure timely balance and relaxation, for example through yoga or meditation, or simply with a leisurely walk in the woods or park. During these walks, it's important to breathe deeply to strengthen the lungs and activate the body's natural cleansing mechanisms against pathogens.
Protect warm feet
Feet also play an important role in preventing colds . Just like a cold nose, cold feet reduce blood flow to the mucous membranes. This means fewer immune cells reach the mucous membranes, making it easier for cold viruses to infect the body. Therefore, everyone should take good care of their feet and keep them warm at all times.
And should your feet get cold, you can improve circulation with, for example, alternating foot baths (immersing your feet alternately in water that is around 37°C and cold) or a gradually warming foot bath. For the latter, start with water that is around 32°C and gradually add hotter water over the course of 15 minutes until it reaches about 40°C. After the foot bath, dry your feet, put on warm socks immediately, and relax for at least 5 minutes.
Then you are well equipped to fight off cold viruses.
